Fantasy Premier League: How does a Bench Boost work in FPL?
If your whole Fantasy Premier League squad is on form, cash in on an FPL Bench Boost and let the points rain
In Fantasy Premier League, a Bench Boost is a bonus chip, which can be used once a an FPL season to boost your points. Let us explain.
Your bench is used in Fantasy Premier League in case of injuries or absences. Any player who doesn't score any points will be substituted out for a player on your bench, should that benched player score more points.
But once a season, you can use the bench to your advantage – by activating the Bench Boost chip. This will mean that you get all the points you would for your first team, plus all the substitutes.
FPL: How a Bench Boost works in Fantasy Premier League
A common tactic for many Fantasy Premier League managers is to select a few low-cost substitutes who are unlikely to play throughout the season. These tend to be the 4.0 backup goalkeepers or younger squad members who don't get a look-in all season.
However, the Bench Boost chip benefits those who have selected substitutes capable of earning points. Ideally, this means you could receive points from all 15 players on your squad.
To use your Bench Boost, just click on the icon while setting up your team. You'll be prompted to confirm your decision – ensure you're confident because this option is only available once. However, you can retract your Bench Boost chip at any point before the game week deadline if you change your mind.
You can only play one chip a week, though. Remember that if you turn your Bench Boost on, you can't also play your triple captain or make transfers with your wildcard.
